A Little About Us the Volunteers

Lesley Alter

Lesley is a mom of two ages 10 and 7, She is a BBC board member and involved in the fundraising committee. She is a mental health provider. She decided to join the BBC board to work on expanding services to moms and families coping with PPD/A. What Lesley likes best about BBC is that we are a grassroots organization that is run by committed volunteers supporting, promoting, and developing community awareness of PPD/A.

Brittani Berg

Brittani has a daughter age 2. She first heard of BBC from a Lactation RN at Salmon Creek Hospital. When her daughter was 3 months old she began experiencing PPD. She called BBC and began attending the BBC NE Portland support group. For Brittani, the most important aspect of BBC is letting women know that there are other people out there. No one is alone, someone is there for you at BBC to listen and provide resources.

Rebecca Coren

Rebecca has a son age 10 and twin girls age 6. She contributes to BBC through phone support and being a psychotherapist on the BBC resource list. In addition, she is a speaker on postpartum depression and anxiety. Rebecca first heard of Baby Blues Connection when she returned to work wanting to specialize in postpartum and parenting issues. She found BBC through web research and met with Wendy Davis. She was very inspired with what BBC had to offer and the caring people that make up its volunteers.

Kim has two children ages 2 & 4. Kim first heard about BBC from her Baby & Me coach at Saint Vincent's Hospital. She experienced PPD/A first hand. Kim began attending BBC support meetings. Once she had recovered she wanted to give back. She began volunteering with phone support. For Kim, the most important aspect of Baby Blue's Connection is being able to call and relate to someone who is in a similar place. When suffering from a mood disorder, you feel very alone. BBC helped Kim feel less isolated and helped her to connect with others and deal with her issues in a healthy way.
